MTCC-Asia had the pleasure of being visited by Ms Magda KOPCZYNSKA, Director of Waterborne, Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport of the European Commission on June 28, 2018. Ms KOPCZYNSKA was welcomed by Prof. Xin Shi, Vice President of Shanghai Maritime University (SMU) and Executive Director of MTCC-Asia.

Prof. Shi thanked for European Union’s funding for the establishment and development of MTCC-Asia to mitigate climate change in the maritime sector for Asia. He then presented the visions, objectives and philosophy with which SMU operates MTCC-Asia, and demonstrated the latest progress made by the Center. Following that, Ms KOPCZYNSK and Prof. Shi broadly exchanged views on innovative technologies that could possibly be transferred to support the reduction of GHG emissions from ships. Also attended the meeting were Head of MTCC-Asia Mr Wei Ruan, Deputy Head Ms Yingming Wang, and the Center’s technical officers.

Ms KOPCZYNSK expressed her appreciations on the achievements so far made by MTCC-Asia and encouraged the team to keep the momentum to achieve greater success for the region.
