IMO Secretary-General Kitack Lim Visited MTCC-Asia

Mr. Kitack Lim, IMO Secretary-General, made his official visit to the MTCC-Asia’s City Office on July 11, following the Global Forum on Green Shipping. His visit was accompanied by the Mr. Zhang Xiaojie, Chairman of IMO Council, Acting Director General of International Cooperation of Ministry of Transport of China, Mr. Xu Ruqing, Director General of China Maritime Safety Administration, Mr. Zhang Lin, Deputy Director General of Shanghai Municipal Transport Commission, Mr. Chen Xi, Deputy Head of Pudong New District of Shanghai and Mr. Jin Yongxing, Chairman of Shanghai Maritime University Council, Chairman of MTCC-Asia Board and Honorary Chairman of International Maritime Lecturers Association.

Secretary-General was deeply impressed by the environment of MTCC-Asia, and expressed his appreciation to Ministry of Transport of China, Shanghai Municipal Government and Shanghai Maritime University for their great support.

MTCC-Asia staff briefed about what has been done, and seriously demonstrated what will be done in the coming months. Secretary-General praised the great progress that MTCC-Asia has achieved and said that “MTCC-Asia has done much more than what is required, it is hard to imagine this if there is no true passion and commitment behind it. As I said in the speech for the IMO 70th anniversary, what is truly worthwhile is not easy to get.”

Secretary-General also visited the MTCC-Asia-hosted Exhibition on Prevention of Air Pollution by Ships held in the City Office. The Exhibition is composed of over 30 pieces of infographics showing various regulations, technologies and operations in terms of the prevention of air pollution by ships.
