GMN Project Manager delivered speech at the Smart Ports Summit

The Smart Ports Summit was held on 19-20 February 2019, Hilton Canary Wharf, London. Mr. Anton Rhodes, the Project Manager of International Maritime Organization (IMO) GMN was invited to give a presentation on 19 February entitled as “A closer look at the Smart Port – Examining the drivers behind change”.


In his presentation, Mr. Anton Rhodes took a closer look at the drivers behind change in the ports and terminals sector, examined the biggest challenges to digitalization of ports and proposed GMN’s role in promoting this transformation.  The presentation consisted of 4 parts: Outline of the IMOs GHG reduction strategy; Why are future ports so important to IMO’s GHG reduction strategy? What are the biggest challenges to digitalization of ports; What is the GMN and what is the role of the GMN.


Mr. Anton Rhodes is a Project Manager for IMO GMN project, which consists of five Maritime Technology Cooperation Centers (MTCCs) in the world. Mr. Rhodes has 10 years’ experience in establishing and implementing international development projects.
