A Training Course on Green Shipping Corridor Held in Shanghai

On January 9, 2025, a training course on Green Shipping Corridor was held in Shanghai, hosted by Shanghai Municipal Transportation Commission and organized by Maritime Technology Cooperation Center in Asia (MTCC Asia). The purpose of this training is to discuss the opportunities and challenges facing the construction of green shipping corridor between China and the US, interpret the core issues of green corridor construction in depth, and promote the development of low-carbon transformation of the shipping industry. 49 trainees from China COSCO SHIPPING Cooperation Limited, Shanghai International Port Group, China Classification Society (CCS), Shanghai Shipping Exchange (SSE) and other organizations participated in the training.

 

 

Prof. Shi Xin, Vice President of Shanghai Maritime University (SMU) and Executive Director of MTCC Asia, introduced the greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction strategy of shipping under the perspective of IMO and the practice and thoughts on green shipping corridor; Dr. Zhang Yunsong, Senior Engineer of China State Shipbuilding Cooperation Limited, interpreted the medium- and long-term measures of ship's GHG emission reduction strategy and introduced the green fuel regulatory system; Mr. Dai Qiang, Deputy General Manager of SIPG Energy Shanghai Co., Ltd., analyzed the green and low-carbon initiatives of the world's major ports and introduced the practice of Shanghai Port in relevant aspects.

 

During the training, the delegates carried out in-depth exchanges on the construction of standard system, operation and management mechanism of green shipping corridor. Prof. Ruan Wei, Head of MTCC Asia, moderated the session.
