MTCC-Asia was invited to participate in the Singapore Maritime Week 2022, which was held on 4-8 April 2022. It was attended by Ruan Wei, the head of MTCC-Asia.
There is increasing urgency for international shipping to identify tangible action plans to attain the IMO’s 2050 GHG reduction target. This process will require considerable resources, innovation, and cooperation. Following the joint IMO-Singapore Future of Shipping Webinars in 2020 and the Future of Shipping Conference 2021, the joint IMO-Singapore Future of Shipping Conference: Decarbonisation (FOSC 2022) returns to Singapore Maritime Week to tackle the critical and cutting-edge issue of maritime decarbonisation. FOSC 2022 aims to bring stakeholders together to identify possible solutions along the two pillars of “opportunities” and “gaps” in the maritime and energy value chains. Attendees from across the maritime value-chain, including port authorities, International Organisations and the industry joined this activity.
Prof. Ruan Wei presented current programs and projects that MTCC-Asia is contributing to the implementation of IMO mission and strategies for GHG reduction, and outlooked future GHG reduction from ships in the session of Identifying the Opportunities – Innovation, Collaboration and Capacity-Building during the event. He stressed upon the importance of a holistic solution for GHG reduction by innovation and technology transferring, capacity-building and international co-operation. After that, Prof. Ruan Wei took part in the panel discussions.
